I came to the State of Colorado in 2007 in search of a new beginning. I had come with a promise to myself to dedicate the final era of my life to the pursuit of my unfulfilled passion: creating meaningful art.
I approach my paintings in an analytical manner. I consider the form and mass of the subject and then impart a fluid energy upon this inert shape. Granite mountain ranges become ocean swells; skies become roiling seas of turbulence. Movement is introduced to an otherwise static, immobile world. A dynamic interaction between land and atmosphere is established.
I have at my front door perhaps the best subject matter in the landscape of Colorado. I approach the canvas using more traditional methods of painting, where attention to the interplay of light and shadow are my primary methods of defining form, where the final rendering assumes a more tonal quality.
