A cloud passing over a mountain cave on a warm spring day assumes the shape of the cave in the mountainside below. In this composition twin spirals align forming a figure 8-shaped path. Following this path, the viewer’s attention is carried over the circular sky disc and then down into the bottom spiral of the cave below, its shadowy cavern conjuring feelings of hidden malevolence, a passage into the underworld. Luckily, the viewer is offered a easy return along the same path, back to the ethereal realm of the blue atmosphere and sunshine above.
