The tree stands silently in the high desert sun, a defiant sentinel against the onslaught of harsh environmental conditions: lightning strikes endured, drought and floods absorbed. Its massive root system, eroded and exposed, still finds firm purchase in the stoney soil. And like us, someday it shall fall in the story of life on Earth.
