A 36×18-inch oil on canvas. Dated September 13, 2026.
Eternities before the first-born day,
Or ere the first sun fledged his wings of flame,
Calm Night, the everlasting and the same,
A brooding mother over chaos lay.
Excerpt, Mother Night by James Weldon Johnson
A variation on my original painting, Mother Night. In this version I concentrate on the transition point between stary night and snow-covered mountain. The stillness and quiet this nocturne inspires is so exquisite it seems almost impossible not to expand on the original.
