Collegiate Peaks, Sawatch Range, Rocky Mountains: The massive mountain awaits the cooling rains of autumn that will replenish the dry basin in its blue valley. Snow will begin accumulating in its vast bowls in late November. By late winter and early spring, the snowpack will shrug off its snowy load, and avalanches will again roll through the blue valley and into the Arkansas River.
