Sangre de Cristo #27

$1,800.00

A 24×36-inch oil on panel

The Sangre de Cristo Mountains form the eastern wall of the San Luis Valley and run south into New Mexico. The name, which translates to “blood of Christ”, was derived from the deep red color they assume in the late afternoon.

In this painting I have accentuated the red color of a ridge rising into the cooler altitudes where heated vapor evaporates into late afternoon clouds.
