Glencoe
A 24×24-inch oil on panel
The stunning beauty of the valley of Glencoe, Scotland, is one tinged with a history of tragedy. Glencoe was the location of the murder of members of the clan McDonald in the late 17th century for refusing to swear loyalty to the Crown in the aftermath of the failed Jacobite rebellion.
In this landscape I have chosen to depict the turbulent sky and rolling terrain as restless shapes, as if disembodied phantoms rising from the deep red of mountains.
