Sky in Eclipse Light
An original 48x30-inch oil on panel
In the year 2023 my wife and I were in southern Colorado and witnessed a partial solar eclipse. At its darkest time, an otherworldly light fell over the mountain where we stood. All shadow took on a much darker value. The song of birds ceased. The sky assumed a near twilight darkness of muted indigo as the temperature fell slightly. This is my depiction of that day: low chroma, delicate coloration, predominantly blue; quite similar to a nocturne on a full moon.
